Wedding Cakes Singapore: When Mille Crêpes Replace the Traditional Tiered Cake
The tiered wedding cake remains a beautiful tradition. For many couples, it will always be part of the celebration.
But weddings have evolved. From intimate solemnisations and ROM ceremonies to smaller banquet celebrations, many couples today are looking for a cake that feels more personal, understated, and most importantly, genuinely enjoyed by their guests.
A Mille Crêpes wedding cake is a layered crêpe cake served as the celebration cake, either as a single statement cake or as part of a larger dessert table featuring multiple flavours.
This guide covers why the shift is happening, how a Mille Crêpes wedding cake works in practice, and which flavours suit the occasion.
Why the Tiered Cake Stopped Being Automatic
The shift isn’t about replacing tradition. It’s about choosing a cake that reflects the style of the celebration.
Many modern weddings in Singapore are smaller and more intimate than before. ROM ceremonies, solemnisations, and smaller banquets have become increasingly common. Couples are placing greater emphasis on food and guest experience, often opting for desserts that guests will genuinely enjoy rather than a cake that serves purely as a display piece.
At the same time, the rise of dessert tables over single showpiece cakes has opened space for alternatives. A Mille Crêpes offers the best of both worlds: elegant enough for a cake cutting ceremony, while being light, refined, and easy to share.

Both options have their place. A traditional tiered cake is still the right choice for a large banquet where the cake is part of the room’s visual centrepiece. A Mille Crêpes is the better fit when the couple wants a cake that gets eaten, photographs quietly, and suits a more intimate celebration. Many couples now use both: a tiered cake for the ceremony and Mille Crêpes for the dessert table.
How a Mille Crêpes Wedding Cake Actually Works
For intimate weddings and solemnisations, many couples choose our 2-tier Mille Crêpes Cake as their wedding cake.
For larger celebrations, our 3-tier Wedding Cake is a popular choice. Available in Signature, Green Tea, and Chocolate, each three-tier cake serves up to 45 guests. The cake cutting moment remains just as memorable, but with a more understated and contemporary feel.
For couples expecting a larger guest count, multiple cakes can be ordered alongside other desserts to create a complete wedding dessert experience.
